An Architect + Builder - it is now possible to work with one company to achieve your dream home

Architect + Builder, what does this actually mean?

The big difference is a move away from the traditional relationship between an architect and builder. Working with Moon means an Architect + Builder under one roof. This bridges the gap and provides one point of contact and responsibility covering the entire process.

How does it work?

Quite simply, from the moment a client decides they would like to undertake a project, they can get in touch. The design and build teams work alongside each other during the concept and planning phase to interpret and deliver a client’s brief. The project is then delivered with our integrated project management and interior coordination.

How does this approach differ from the normal process?

It vastly impacts the way a project is approached at every stage. As a single company, there is a vested interest in getting every project built. This means we do not waste time drawing concepts that no one can afford to build or have no hope of achieving planning consent. Instead, the costing of a project can be done at the earliest stage before too much time and money has been wasted!

What about building a project?

Moon also extends to the site team, giving absolute control of the build quality and standard of finish. Problems arise throughout any build, but instead of finger pointing, we work together to find solutions and solve any problems that arise. There are no disagreements between the builder and the architect. There are no sites getting shutdown because no one can agree where a problem lies.

How does the process work?

The first step is to visit the client and site. This first meeting helps to establish what a client wants and how that relates to a budget. Our design team will then start compiling a number of options for a client’s consideration, eventually reaching a design and budget that hopefully the client is excited about building!

Once signed off we focus our energies on getting onto site as Planning consent and Building Control is sought. Clients get stuck in with the interiors team to start looking at the fun bits, like kitchens and bathrooms.

Once on site, every project is assigned a project manager and site manager who work to deliver the project as smoothly as possible.

Is it possible to alter or add to designs once construction is started?

Having an architect and builder under the same roof makes this easier. It’s not always easy for a client to visualise all aspects of a project until it becomes a reality – but not having to pass designs from one company to another and back again makes it simpler to change a design.

Do you offer any other services?

We have our own large workshop making furniture, joinery and kitchens for our projects. Every building project has awkward nooks or angles that can be difficult to make the most of. Integrating a piece of custom-made joinery really help deliver something special.

Testimonial

“Moon are a fabulous company who really do what they promise – design and build to a superb standard. Moon recently completed a kitchen extension on our house and a two-room extension on our garage block. We are delighted with the result, and we were delighted with the process. From the beginning the design process was meticulous and not rushed, and Moon’s handling of the planning process was smooth. The project was delivered on time and on budget. The team were very skilled, friendly, courteous and tidy. We have worked with other builders on large projects, and Moon are the best. They plan superbly, they do what they promise, and they build with great attention to detail. If we had another building project in the future Moon would be our first and only call.”
