Wine lovers of the Cotswolds looking to expand their palates should head over to the brand new Wine Library at Tivoli Wines

Tivoli Wines on Cheltenham’s Andover Road has opened a brand new 32-bottle Wine Library and welcomes everyone from rookies to wine aficionados.

Born from the desire to dispel the stuffiness of wine connoisseurship and offer an alternative to cheaply-made supermarket wines, owners David and Helen Dodd have created a relaxed approach to wine tasting and buying.

The innovative Enomatic tasting machines at The Wine Library effectively preserve and dispense the wines allowing visitors to try expertly selected wines from around the world at the touch of a button; with three options to choose from, you can select a taste (25ml), a small glass (75ml) or a larger glass (125ml), helping you discover a new favourite.

Rather than being served at the bar, customers simply put credit on a charge card that can be inserted into the machines to taste as many or as few wines as they like, without having to pronounce the names to a member of staff. But there will always be an expert upstairs to answer questions and give recommendations.

Plush interiors feature comfortable furniture and a wall of wine evocative of a library book shelf, a wonderful setting for the “study” of great wine.

You can even pick up a bottle or two of your favourite wines afterwards.

The Wine Library is open from 1pm to 9pm Tuesday to Saturday.
