Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards - Best Ale, Beer or Cider Award

Archant

With so many delicious beers, ales and ciders produced locally in the Cotswolds, the competition was tough. But we’re pleased to announce we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Best Ale, Beer or Cider’ title

The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the biggest events in the local calendar and it is hugely anticipated by the region’s food and drink industry all year round.

We champion the best local producers, suppliers and businesses that are passionate about the Cotswold countryside and the future of our local environment.

Thanks to both the nominations of the public and our well-respected judges, we have picked a winner worthy of the ‘Best Ale, Beer or Cider Awards’, sponsored The Midcounties Co-operative.

This year’s finalists

Steady Rolling Man, Deya Brewing Company, Cheltenham

Judges noted Steady Rolling Man is a wonderful tasting pale ale with strong hoppy notes both on the palette and the nose that reminded them of warm lazy summer days. They said it would be a great accompaniment to any occasion.

Yubby Bitter, Yubberton Brewing Co., Chipping Campden

Yubby Bitter drank as a smooth British bitter. The judges enjoyed the subtle caramel notes that are said to stay with you. All round, it was described as a very enjoyable Cotswold bitter with strong traditional branding.

And the winner is...

Medium Cider, Pearson’s Cider, Bourton-on-the-Hill

Medium Cider impressed judges with its clean, crisp and refreshing taste. Coupled with a well-rounded flavour and colour, the cider was described as a true pleasure to drink with the bottle itself adding to the overall character of the cider.
