Rusland Cookery School offers up to 40 different styles of classes demonstrating a range of professional techniques and disciplines to be used at home.
The school utilises a purpose built kitchen, situated within the grounds of its 250-year-old family cottage, giving pupils the overall experience of working in a professional environment. Also set within the grounds is a greenhouse and allotment area which produces fresh ingredients for both the classes and private dining facilities in the conservatory.
Rusland specialises in teaching beginner to advanced fine dining techniques to pupils ranging from youngsters to retired individuals from all walks of life and professions who wish to learn, gain confidence, embrace new ideas and enjoy preparing and producing quality dishes from local fresh produce.
The pupils leave each hands-on session with printed recipes covering the dishes they have produced, and are provided with a school shoulder bag and suitable containers to take home food they have not consumed.
Chef and tutor John Bridgeman has gained the majority of his expertise from restaurant kitchens in the UK, as well as in Scandinavia and other European countries. Nearer to home, John has taken a number of Summer Schools in Marlborough College and was a Partner and General Manager of a country house hotel near Swindon.
The school has been awarded the maximum 5 star rating with the local council environmental health department and comply with their newly adopted ‘Eat With Confidence’ scheme. It is a professional, family-run business in which John Bridgeman is supported by his wife Kate and daughter Lindsay and where there is an emphasis on seasonal produce with a local provenance.
Rusland also hosts bespoke corporate team building events and private parties, along with wine and whisky tasting events – working with suppliers to match the drink with their food offerings.
