Rugby fans in Cheltenham don’t fear! We pick 9 of Cheltenham’s top watering holes to get in on the sporting action with a pint in hand

The Strand, Cheltenham

Find The Strand: 40-42 High Street

Exceptional ales, tasty pub grub and a fantastic atmosphere – what more could you ask for when looking for a spot to watch the rugby? The Strand is showing all of the live Rugby World Cup games on the big screen in their basement venue. Why not share a homemade platter of nachos and two pints of ale for a tenner?

Tailors, Cheltenham

Find Tailors: 4 Cambray Place

Tailors claim to be ‘the best pub in Cheltenham to watch live sport in HD’ and with two big screens, five plasma screens and nine televisions to boast about, it’s a great, atmospheric venue to catch the entirety of the World Cup action. For those that don’t fancy a few beers, take advantage of the ‘buy two large glasses of wine, get the rest of the bottle free’.

The Frog & Fiddle

Find The Frog & Fiddle: 313-315 High Street

Known locally as a buzzing music venue, The Frog & Fiddle also boasts 14 screens for you and friends to catch the rugby action. It gets very busy during showings of live matches so get there early, have a game of pool, get the drinks in and relax in the rustic surroundings of a Cheltenham boozer that’s been serving its patrons for nearly 20 years.

Find the Beehive: 1-3 Montpellier Villas

Nestled on the quiet Montpellier Villas, you’ll find the Beehive, a charming pub where locals and visitors sit side by side sipping on locally sourced ales and tucking into tasty homemade dishes. With plenty of events happening throughout the year, you can catch the rugby at the Beehive too!

Nestled in the heart of Charlton Kings, The Royal pub is welcoming rugby fans to enjoy matches in their cosy bar. With plenty of comfortable corners to relax and free half time chips during all the England games, its little wonder sports fans flock to The Royal.

Find Lansdown: Lansdown Road

Serving great beer and burgers, and boasting a lively atmosphere, it’s little wonder the Lansdown is such a popular spot for watching live sports, including the rugby. Grab a front row seat with a pint of beer in hand and platter of pulled pork nachos to snack on.

Find Harry Cook: 23 Montpellier Walk

With four-pint pitchers of lager or buckets of craft beer cans available, while away the afternoon at Harry Cook Free House on Montpellier Walk. This beautifully rustic bar is a lovely place for a few drinks and a bite to eat, and becomes even more vibrant during the rugby. To avoid disappointment, book your table here.

Sup & Chow

Find Sup & Chow: 242 Bath Road

Another watering hole located on Cheltenham’s busy Bath Road, Sup & Chow is a lovely community pub that offers a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere.
