Co-founder of Wantage accountancy firm Inca has teamed up with Oxfordshire Fitness and 28 Nordic walkers to raise nearly £500 for Parkinson’s UK with a nine mile circular trek up Faringdon Folly from Buckland Village Hall

Lesley Carson, co-founder of Inca based at Lyford (near Wantage) and Henley, took part in the walk to coincide with the announcement of her firm’s chosen charities for 2018/2019, nominated by Inca employees, which are: The Dash Charity, Team Mikayla, Riding for the Disabled Abingdon and Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary

Inca donates 5% of pre-tax profits anually (1% to each of the nominated charities and 1% kept for additional causes) and is heading towards a record-breaking year which is predicted to be a combined total over £12,000 donated to good causes.

Lesley Carson said: “The Nordic walk was great fun. It is a very social activity and we were all thrilled to put our poles to the test to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. I’m also delighted with the Inca team’s Oxfordshire and Berkshire charities and look forward to seeing them benefit from Inca’s success at the end of the year.”

The Nordic walk was organised by Inca client, Lisa Young, founder of Oxfordshire Fitness. She said: “Everyone can do Nordic walking and it makes such a difference to fitness, burning 46% more calories than normal walking with the poles ensuring a complete body workout. It can also help people with degenerative diseases by helping to increase body balance, standing tall and using both feet to improve posture in addition to strengthening the abdominal core. This is why we walked to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.”

Parkinson’s UK is aiming to drive better care, treatments and quality of life to ensure nobody has to face Parkinson’s alone. For further information, visit: parkinsons.org.uk

Since 2012, Inca has donated over £50,000 to local charities and good causes with a goal to donate a further £50,000 over the next five years. The firm is also aiming to help 700 children in Kenya reach their fifth birthday by 2020 with the gift of a mosquito net to fight Malaria, which corresponds with the Inca’s goal of helping Inca clients to celebrate five years in business.
