The biggest brand protectors in Gloucestershire

The latest arrival of IP lawyer Riyaz Jariwalla at BPE Solicitors in Cheltenham adds to the largest specialist Intellectual Property team in the county.

With the appointment of Riyaz, BPE has a significant compliment of IP lawyers adding to the teams depth and commitment of continuing to provide strategic IP advice comparable to that offered by law firms in Bristol or Birmingham, explained Jason Stratford-Lysandrides, BPEs IP Partner. BPEs expertise is unmatched locally with the inclusion of both litigation and commercial IP experience all delivered in house. The practice boasts European and international clients requiring the full range of IP services from brand and design protection, through to the commercial exploitation and enforcement of technology matters whether in the UK or overseas.

Riyaz was recruited specifically for his full range of dedicated IP litigation experience that includes trademarks and counterfeiting, disputes regarding copyright, designs and domain names, as well as IT and patent infringement. He will be supporting the work already undertaken by BPE under Philip Radford, who has supported clients in this area for over 20 years.

Alongside BPEs IP litigation practice, the international expertise of Iain Garfield and the IP work undertaken by him over the last 11 years, provides experience and contacts unavailable elsewhere. With clients increasingly operating in a global economy, through international suppliers and distributors, the demand for world-wide IP understanding and support is ever-present.

BPE is constantly working with clients who have a real IP need. Such advice must have relevant industry and market knowledge coupled with extensive IP experience. More and more clients now realise that international issues impact upon their business, therefore requiring strategic IP advice, whether it includes registration, enforcement, financial or even global considerations. Clients are deserving of the very best of advisors that are capable of appreciating and protecting a business intellectual property assets, Jason added.

With a three partner team comprising Philip, Iain and me, together with the appointments of Riyaz, and Matt Jackson who recently joined in July, BPE continues to support an ever-increasing variety of clients who require comprehensive expertise that is local to their home-grown business in Gloucestershire as well as for those clients established beyond the region, he concluded.

Clients represented by the team include those from the entertainment, toy and retail sectors, as well as science and technology-based businesses in addition to a number of the leading scientific academies and learned societies in the UK.
