Hear from the editor of the brand new Business and Professional Life section in Cotswold Life, Nicky Godding.

The Cotswolds is famous, amongst other things, for honey-coloured houses, cheese rolling and royals. It should also be known for innovation and business, which is what were showcasing in Cotswold Business and Professional Life. Ive written about Cotswold business for years, six for Cotswold Life, and about many baby businesses that have since burst into the big time.

St Jamess Place is celebrating 20 years in Cirencester, reporting funds under management close to 30 billion, 30 per cent higher than last year. GE Aviation employs over 1600 people at its Bishops Cleeve site, supporting around 6000 more within a 50 miles radius. SuperGroup, which owns the SuperDry brand and Cult Clothing stores was born in Cheltenham and successfully floated on the stock market last year.

These are some of the big boys, but we are also profiling companies we think could be future ones to watch. Are you one of them? Let us know.

Many businesses, and others, actively support the local community giving time, cash or both to improve the lives of local people. If youre one of them let us know and well help you tell your story. The Government is pump priming 8 million into the improvement of rural broadband services across the Cotswolds, in areas not considered commercially viable.

Gloucestershire and Herefordshire are working together on this Borders Broadband project. GFirst, which promotes inwards investment into Gloucestershire, and Oxfordshires new Local Economic Partnership are doing a great job in promoting inward investment into the region. More power to their elbows, and we hope our supplement will help showcase this fabulous region.

Enjoy reading our bigger business quarterly.
